Dae-ip cha, “big-leaf tea” is one of two Balhyocha made by the 8th generation tea master, Oh Si-Young of Dosim Dawon. The steep and climbing fields of their gardens are quite a sight to behold! This dawon is also home to some very old tea trees - a millennial tea tree and its hundreds of years old children scatter the beautiful and stunning gardens.
A very solid and robust tea, Dae-ip cha is delicious steeped and sipped from a mug as well.
The best word to describe this tea is, “Crimson.” Not only the color, the sound of the word describes the taste and feeling this tea brings to your cup. More in line with a black tea’s taste and flavor profile, it brings a clarity not often found in black teas.
